Bio
Juniper Johnson (b. Inglewood, CA, 2000) is a West African-American artist, filmmaker and photographer based in Florida. She earned her BFA in Creative Writing from Ringling College of Art and Design, securing minors in Art History, Photography, and Film Studies. Johnson explores the intricate nature of blackness--crafting full-bodied visuals potent with authenticity. Her work probes themes of identity, sense of belonging, and kinship to remind us of the soil we're born from.
She’s an Associate Copywriter for Disney and a Lambda Literary Screenwriting alumni. Her words appear across publications: Color Bloc, Midnight and Indigo, and SKEW Magazine. Two of her short films are on their festival runs: a helpless romantic, Bahati, and Heavy is the Head, a series of infomercials in relation to the CROWN Act.
